Hispanics Across America

Fernando Fernando Mateo is known as a well-respected and successful businessman and as the unifying force behind the livery cab industry. But he is also responsible for many positive changes within the Hispanic Community in New York City. In 1990, for example, Fernando launched a city-wide gun exchange program, Goods For Guns (formerly known as Toys For Guns), that became hugely popular and sparked similar gun exchange programs throughout the country. Mr. Mateo also established a training school, Mateo Institute of Training, to offer training to first time, non-violent offenders, so they can acquire skills and be better prepared for employment upon their release. Both programs were well received by city officials and other respected members of the community.

To prevent successful programs such as these from fading away, Fernando founded Hispanics Across America (HAA) to spearhead them. Since its inception in 2002, HAA has been in the forefront of issues affecting the Hispanic community. As the organization behind these previously successful programs, HAA has taken off as the leader of the Hispanic community in the Tri-State area.

Although we are based in the New York City area, HAA is offering its services and programs to communities throughout the entire country with the aim of advancing the health, educational, social, and political interests of Hispanics everywhere. HAA has become the leading advocacy group for Hispanics in the NYC area by paying close attention to personal details, and staying in touch with pertinent issues that are affecting the community. HAA is determined to maintain these personal touches as we continue to grow and become an indispensable resource for Hispanics throughout. As Hispanics Across America cultivates existing relationships with prospective federal and state organizations, philanthropic foundations and corporations, as well as developing new associations, we will endeavor to implement methodologies that bring parity to all Hispanics who strive to live the American dream.

Big ImageHispanics Across America President Fernando Mateo has launched a national campaign aimed at getting Roberto Clemente’s number 21 retired in the same manner which baseball has retired Jackie Robinson’s number. Clemente who is looked upon as a pioneer for all Hispanic baseball players and an ambassador by all Latinos around the world, has all the credentials to be given this honor statistically as a Hall of Famer and as a Humanitarian. A web site has been created to help garner the support of all fans around the world in our quest to get this great honor accomplished.
