What is HAA about?
Hispanics Across America (HAA) is a not-for-profit think-tank and civil rights advocate. This organization provides the Hispanic communities and population in general with in-depth research, analysis and problem-solving solutions to regressive issues that will help advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population throughout the United States.
What Services are provided by HAA?
- Seminars and Workshops: A major obstacle to minority home ownership is the complexity and difficulty of the purchasing process, so we are stepping up our efforts to better educate first-time home buyers. Consumers need to know their rights and responsibilities as home buyers. Education is the best protection for families against abusive and unscrupulous lenders. Financial education and housing counseling can help protect home buyers against abuses, greatly improve the loan terms they are offered, and help families get through tough times with their first homes intact.
- Down Payment Pooling Fund: High down payment rates and closing costs may put a home out of reach for many first-time buyers. When a low-income family is qualified to buy a home, but the down payment and/or closing costs prove to be unattainable, the Down Payment Pooling Fund may help subsidize prospective first-time home buyers with needed funds for their purchase.
- Affordable Housing: Another major obstacle to minority home ownership is a lack of affordable housing. HAA will analyze the bottom line of existing programs and incentives to increase home ownership through reverse engineering in order to improve and implement programs designed specifically for the Hispanic population.
- Membership Services: Housing counseling, professional services referral, 20% discount on the price of admission to seminars, workshops, and special events, free subscription to quarterly newsletter, access to instructional material, discounted rates for memberships of affiliated organizations.
HAA encorages all to cheer for Alex Rodriguezl.
Hispanics Across America and its president Fernando Mateo is encouraging all
Yankee fans to get behind A Rod in a show of support that demonstrates to
him that we appreciate who he is, and what he stands for as a Yankee and as
a great Latin American Ballplayer.
HAA looking to get Roberto Clemente's number retired throughout Major League Baseball.
Hispanics Across America President Fernando Mateo has launched a national campaign aimed at getting Roberto Clemente’s number 21 retired in the same manner which baseball has retired Jackie Robinson’s number. Clemente who is looked upon as a pioneer for all Hispanic baseball players and an ambassador by all Latinos around the world, has all the credentials to be given this honor statistically as a Hall of Famer and as a Humanitarian. A web site has been created to help garner the support of all fans around the world in our quest to get this great honor accomplished. You can log on to www.retireclemente21.com to register your support to this cause.
