HAA launches A.C.T.I.O.N.
Hispanics Across America will be launching a new program called ACTION (Athletes Coming Together In Others Needs) sometime early in the 2005 calendar year. The goals of this program will be very exciting and also very rewarding to the Hispanic community in general. HAA has plans to bring professional athletes from various sports to schools, community services, Boys & Girls Clubs and Youth Centers in Hispanic communities, in order to build a bridge between these athletes and the youngsters of these various communities. It is our feeling that thru this program the kids will attain not only a great understanding for the what these athletes have gone thru and continue to go thru to stay at the top of their game but they will also have a greater respect for the subject matter at hand that the athlete is delivering in his message. Hispanics Across America President Fernando Mateo has launched a national campaign aimed at getting Roberto Clemente’s number 21 retired in the same manner which baseball has retired Jackie Robinson’s number.
